About Owen Iraoya
The last room is between your ears.
I am a mastering engineer and technical director building audio-reactive experiences that hold up under real conditions, for real people.
The practice
Listen for the room
My work sits between sound, software, and the people who have to live with both. I make records translate, systems endure, and interactive spaces respond with intention.
The through-line is attention. What does a listener notice first? What disappears on a cheap speaker? What does a screen-reader user need to know? The answer changes the build, not just the documentation.
Mastering stance
Emotion before loudness
A limiter can make a record louder, but it cannot create conviction. My masters are built around emotional center, translation, and dynamic narrative before they are built around numbers.
Every decision is judged across everyday listening conditions. If the low end blooms in the studio but falls apart in a car, that is not a sonic detail. It is a broken promise to the listener.
